Since I still don’t know if I have the job or not, I’ve decided to post something non-joby. (Is that a word? joby? no matter)
I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of days. I have a lot of skirts and I would like to wear these skirts in the fall but um, it’s cold. I know you can wear tights, right?
But what colors are ok, with what shoes?
Please someone explain to me this whole tights and skirts deal.
Pictures are always nice.

I avoid tights at all costs. I’m an odd size that falls in between the size charts so i always end up with that 6 inch gap between my crotch and crotch part of the tights.
Sorry.

Love tights! I am a huge fan of black, especially txtured. There are a lot of cool styles out there now. Also, grey is in this season so grey knit tights could be pretty fabulous.
I also own a pair of green and a pair of burgundy fishnets, in addition to black. And a pair of dark green tights. But that might be a little bold for someone new to the whole tight thing.

Simple. Black with black, brown with brown. You can mix and match with other colors, but I’m a fan of the basics. And a textured tight is wonderful and gives interest to your outfit.

I wish I could help but the thought of tights sends shivers up my spine. I can’t wear them. They seriously gross me out.
Hi, I’m totally weird.

I lurv lurv LURV skirts and tights. You’re pretty safe with black and/or charcoal tights with most skirts, and I even ordered some brighter colors this year. Tights are very “in” this year, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I do a lot of wearing the knee high boots with tights? But I think that any shoe is fair game.

I have been wearing tights ever since my sister bought them for my birthday or christmas some years ago. The one thing I love about tights is that they keep your legs warm in the winter, so you still feel like you can wear a skirt. They are better than pantyhose because they last a lot longer without ripping or tears. If you get the right ones they can be pretty comfortable. Make sure you get your right size too…cause I know what they mean…just get a size larger if they aren’t fitting…they should stretch!
I am wearing some as I type…it’s chilly here today.
But you have to shop around. “Hue” is a pretty good brand as is DKNY. But, now tights are in fashions so I think they are being seen everywear now. I think H&M has a good selection too, though I have never tried them. And from what I see I guess you can wear them with any shoe now…even open toed shoes and ones that have a strap.
Black is my favorite color still, but I just bought some navy ones and have grey ones too. I usually match the color of the tights with a color in the skirt. If you go with a colored tight, I would think to do the same or wear with all black. There are also many tights with patterns which are my favorite.
Sorry this is so long, but I love tights! Hope this helps.

Dude, I am so with you here. Hence, I have no ideas. but I do so totally feel you. Like, all I can pull off is charcoal gray and black.
Such a complex woman I am.

Great post! Because I’ve decided that I’m sick of pants and going to go with the whole skirt thing this autumn. So all these comments were really helpful!

i love tights. i think that it might have something to do with the fact i’ve been dancing since i was three. liek molls, i agree:
basic is great. if you have an outfit that is wrought with wools, or tweeds, or houndstooth, go toward plain (IE no texture) and go with basics: black or grey with those darker colors, and brown with the more fallish colors. i’m also a fan of grey tights.
and only wear textured tights if you have a more simple skirt. textured tights plus a houndstooth skirt? toooo much.
ok. that is all. i’ll be stopping now, because i’ve gone on entirely too long about tights. lol.

sorry i can’t be of more help. me + tights = not a good combination. not that i don’t think they look cute on other people, but i just don’t like wearing them. i think all those years of dance classes turned me away from them. ha.

I’d get a few different tights – black with fun patterns (I like stripes), brownish and something light maybe cream and then you just coordinate with the colors in the skirt or your top. As far as shoes I am a ballet flats kinda girl.

you got a lot of responses here but i am going to add my two cents—although most have hit on my points.
1. Go with the textured tights—even with a slight (not intense!) pattern on your skirt, it can be pulled off!
2. You can wear pumps, flats, peep toes (i love this look—a red peep toe with black textured tights, it’s really cute) and boots.
3. Right now with sweater dresses thick tights are in and I am very excited to try this out once it gets chilly!
4. Try different colors—With denim skirts and earthy tones I have a pair of textured maroon tights—very cute with brown boots.
5. I am trying to find grey tights at the moment!
